Richeal’s Favorite Tools

Being a recruiter can get messy, and I mean REALLY messy. As a seasoned professional in the hiring process, I know first-hand just how chaotic things can get when all your ducks aren’t in a row.

These daily tasks take energy and effort, which I’m sure we can all agree that we just don’t have time for that! But there’s a simple fix. The devices we use for entertainment can also be used for organization and functionality – with a few choice apps.

The hiring process is daunting as is. These tools are some of my favorites to take the stress out of the day-to-day tedium. They put the FUN back in functional recruiting.

 HoneIt

Takeaway cupcakes, shoes, handbags, and make-up, but don’t take this tool away from me…EVER!  Quite simply…I FRIGGIN’ LOVE THIS TOOL and it is arguably my favorite.  “Why?” you ask?  Well, let me tell you.

I am a note taker.  I document everything and (not to toot my own horn) I am pretty good at it.  When it comes to candidate interviews, I sometimes feel that even when I am listening intently, there’s always something lost when I am transcribing the conversation to death.

That was until HoneIt came along.  HoneIt allows you to schedule, record, transcribe, tag and search your phone interviews.  For the most part, it’s hands-free, allowing you to fully immerse yourself and enjoy the conversation!  You can take clips from your conversation and submit directly to the hiring team, along with your submission.  It ridiculously affordable and Nick Livingston and his team are incredibly receptive to feedback and making improvements.  It’s a game changer!

Buffer

I don’t deny that I am a lazy-ass when it comes to social media. Buffer makes it easy for me to manage, schedule and share content for all my social sites, through one application.  They offer both free and paid versions and it’s a bit more user-friendly than Hootsuite and other options.

Calendly

What kind of crazy chaos was I in before Calendly? My world changed the day I automated scheduling meetings and calls.  Do you ever feel like your head might fall off if you have to coordinate another phone interview or meeting because you know it’s going to take half a dozen emails to complete the task?  I’ve lived in that land of crazy for far too long and can tell you that there is light at the end of the tunnel.  Instead of 5 emails, you only need to send one!  Calendly allows you to automate these routine tasks and get an insane amount of time back in your day!

Change is hard, but what I can tell you is that the people on the receiving end give rave reviews as well and appreciate the efficiency!  Calendly has both paid and free versions available, as well as team collaboration tools!  Acuity is another good one, as well as youcanbook.me.

RecruiterHunt

Here’s a one-stop shop for apps and websites for those of us who like to really geek out on tools.  A sourcers/recruiters paradise for tools that are easily searchable by collections, i.e., calendars, candidate experience, AI, Facebook, etc.

Hiretual Chrome Extension

This is a sourcing tool on steroids! It allows you to build effective Boolean search strings, find contact info and source passive talent through a free Chrome extension…enough said!  I will however give a shameless plug to the paid Hiretual platform itself…its badass!  It’s user-friendly, intuitive, saves time and finds untapped talent!  It’s worth the money.

Recruit’em

This is an oldie but a goodie. I admire, respect and adore Susanna Frazier and her love for writing sexy Boolean. However, I don’t possess her craft and couldn’t pull it off if I tried.

With that said, I’m all for leveraging tools that aid in writing Boolean for me (not super sexy but can be effective). Recruit’em is a ridiculously simple tool that allows you to run x-ray searches on LinkedIn, Git, Stack and Twitter.  Not only is it easy…it’s free.

We all live busy and sometimes chaotic lives. With the right tools, you can take the stress and overwhelming nature out of the hiring process. Why not elevate your professional career by taking advantage of your resources?! Cut out the added pressure of hiring process tasks and focus on what really matters.
